CULTURAL TOURS PROGRAMME IN WESTERN SERENGETI
Serengeti is the biggest district in Mara region where the northern side is the National Park which cover 2/3 of the total area, and western side is area inhabited by human.
Mara is the region that consists of more than 21 different tribes which is about 18% of 120 tribes found in Tanzania, 6 different tribes are found in western Serengeti and they managed to preserve their traditions and customs.

- A visit to Serengeti Cultural Centre
- Visit to Community development projects, local schools & Colleges and Health centre found in the area. See how people are struggling to overcome big human enemies: Poverty, Illiteracy and Disease
- A visit to ngoreme hotspring –Maji moto village
- Farm tour; see how the people of western Serengeti practice in different forms of agriculture
- Local send off & wedding party can be organized in the village by request.
Kuryan Bomas (Full day tour)
Walk through a village and visit a traditional wakurya boma of small round hatched houses,(emesonso), to explore the culture of the people who have coexisted for many years with migratory wild animals of Serengeti ecosystem. You`ll participate in various local activities as: grazing cattles in the field, milking cattle, fetching water from the river, participate in local food preparation and eat like a local farmer. A local guide will lead you to experience this traditional way of living. A unique lifestyle not to be missed.

Serengeti Cultural Center & Mugumu town tour (Half day tour)
Cycling (using local bicycles) to Serengeti cultural centre where the energetic wakurya traditional dancers will give you an insight into wakurya culture by their capturing songs and dancing. You can watch, experience and even participate in variety of dances symbolizing various occasions and traditional events such as: Dances for bride-price giving, circumcision, marriage ceremony, warriors, victory celebration after winning a war and other more traditional events.
Then proceed to;
Walk through mugumu town market which is the central market for all local famers, you`ll be guided to what is for sale and how it’s used or prepared, visit local shoe makers, Curio shops with a wide variety of items from different tribes of western Serengeti.
Community Development activities: (full day tour)
Visit a local schools where you can interact with pupils and teachers. Arrangements are made to allow maximum interaction with pupils` where you`ll exchange and learn from each other, play various games this is also accompanied by planting a friendship Tree that will bear your two names as friends and your new friend will continue taking care of the tree as a sign for your friendship. You will come areal friend of Serengeti Ecosystem.
You can also have a wonderful volunteering experience in health projects education projects; primary, secondary schools or Serengeti Comm Tourism College teaching various subjects as per your profession, let us know if your interest.
Ngoreme hotspring tour
Our travelers have an opportunity to explore the hot spring found in the area while enjoying magnificient iconic kopjes dotting the land and finally get a cultural insight of Wangoreme inhabitants of the area. Listen to folklore and nice stories about their culture as it’s explained to you by Wangoreme elders
